Story

Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm were Danish designers who worked together from 1961 to 1968. Fabricius trained as a cabinetmaker under Niels Vodder, while Kastholm brought a background as a trained smith.

They studied at the School of Interior Design and later met again while working at Ole Hagen’s studio. In 1961 they established their own practice, developing furniture in wood, steel, leather, and glass with an emphasis on clearly expressed structure.

The FK Chair, developed in the late 1960s, received Germany’s Gute Form award in 1969. Fabricius and Kastholm ended their partnership in 1968 and continued independently.
