Story
Anton Kildeberg (1870–1941) was a Danish cabinetmaker and workshop owner who manufactured furniture in Odense. Anton Kildebergs Møbelfabrik was founded in 1897 and supported Odense’s furniture industry through the first half of the twentieth century.
Odense Stadsarkiv preserves a group photograph of the factory’s craftsmen dating from around 1920–1925, confirming that the company was already operating as a workshop of substantial scale. After Anton Kildeberg’s death, Svend Kildeberg and Henning Kildeberg succeeded him; records from 1941–1943 identify both men as directors of the factory.
Tables from the 1950s and 1960s that are now presented on the vintage market under the Anton Kildeberg name include products manufactured by the factory after Anton himself had died. It is therefore important to distinguish between Anton Kildeberg as an individual and the product history of Anton Kildebergs Møbelfabrik, which continued into the next generation.
