Audo Copenhagen

Story

Audo Copenhagen is a design brand established in Copenhagen in 2023 through the integration of MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, the latter known as a combined showroom and hotel. This strategic merger brought together contemporary functionality, the legacy of Denmark’s golden age of design, and an experiential approach to interiors.

The brand’s philosophy centers on “Sense of Community” and “Soft Minimalism.” The former emphasizes human connection and spaces that encourage exchange through design, while the latter expresses a form of quiet luxury through restrained beauty and natural materials, with the aim of creating furniture that can remain relevant across generations.

Audo House in Copenhagen is a central expression of the brand. Set within a renovated historic building, it combines hospitality, dining, café, and coworking functions, allowing visitors to experience furniture in a lived environment. The project received international recognition through an AHEAD Europe hospitality award in 2019.

Audo Copenhagen also seeks to balance heritage and innovation. Alongside reissues of historic designs, it collaborates with contemporary architects and designers including Norm Architects, creating a consistent aesthetic from individual products to complete spaces. Sustainability is another core concern, reflected in initiatives such as Declare labeling and an emphasis on transparency.

The brand has expanded actively in Japan and opened a showroom in the AXIS building in Roppongi in 2024. Its strategy draws on aesthetic affinities between Nordic and Japanese design, using cultural dialogue to establish the brand beyond the conventional role of a furniture manufacturer.
