Story
Erik Andersen (1916–2009) and Palle Pedersen (1926–2009) were Danish designers who worked together on seating during the mid-20th century. The best-documented part of their work is a group of chairs designed for Randers Møbelfabrik.
Surviving dining chairs from the late 1950s use a T-shaped back and frames in mahogany or teak, sometimes with rosewood inlay. The designs turn joints and back construction into visible details while keeping the legs and overall proportions light.
On 2 April 1962 the pair filed a U.S. design application for a chair. Design Patent 195,256, issued on 21 May 1963, names Erik Andersen and Palle Pedersen as the designers and records assignment of one half to Moreddi Inc. and one half to A/S Randers Møbelfabrik. The patent is important primary evidence for the designers’ relationship with Randers.
A number of additional chairs circulate on the vintage market under their names, but this page limits manufacturer and date claims to works that can be supported by primary documentation or comparatively strong records.
