Story

Niels Koefoed was a Danish furniture designer and factory owner associated with Koefoeds Hornslet. The furniture factory in Hornslet had been founded by his father, Einar Koefoed, in the 1920s, and became particularly associated with dining furniture.

Among Koefoed’s best-known designs are the Lis Chair and Eva Chair. The Lis Chair dates from 1961, while the Eva Chair was designed in 1964 and is distinguished by three vertical slats in the back. Examples were produced in woods including teak and rosewood.

Published sources do not consistently agree on Koefoed’s life dates, so this page focuses on better-documented designs and manufacturing history.
